As 2024 ends, New Year’s Eve Barcelona celebrations are preparing a breathtaking event. The skies over Montjuïc will light up with 500 drones, vibrant pyrotechnics, and evocative music. Meanwhile, Avenida Maria Cristina will host the dazzling show.
The event, titled Barcelona Batega (“Barcelona Beats”), promises to delight both locals and visitors.
Barcelona New Year´s Eve celebrations
The festivities start at 9.00pm with music setting the mood. Then, at 11.50 pm, the main event—a choreographed blend of drones and fireworks—will begin. Groupe F, led by Christophe Berthonneau, designed the show. Its theme celebrates love for nature, urban life, and coexistence. Consequently, the spectacle aims to welcome 2025 with visual and emotional impact.
High-tech aerial choreography
First, five hundred drones will create intricate aerial patterns. Alongside, 800 kilograms of fireworks will launch to 180 metres high across a 300-metre front. Japanese-inspired designs, known for vibrant colours, will enhance the display. Additionally, sixty moving light heads and 15 flame machines will light up Montjuïc, adding to the Magic Fountain’s grandeur.
Paying tribute to Joan Miró
The show will honour Catalan artist Joan Miró, marking 50 years of the Fundació Joan Miró. Visuals will draw from his bold colours, organic shapes, and dreamlike qualities. Therefore, these nods to Miró will connect Barcelona’s heritage to its celebrations.
A safe and inclusive celebration
Meanwhile, officials have prepared key measures for safety. Guardia Urbana and Mossos d’Esquadra will ensure order. Furthermore, drones will provide aerial surveillance. Security teams will screen for dangerous items like glass bottles and e-scooters. Finally, extended metro hours will help revellers arrive and leave easily. In conclusion, Barcelona is ready for its New Year´s Eve celebrations and to welcome 2025 in style and safety.
