Alicante-Elche summer flights

Alicante-Elche Airport, one of Spain’s busiest hubs, is expanding its flight network for the summer of 2025. Following a record-breaking 2024 with over 18 million passengers, the airport continues to strengthen its position as a key gateway to the Costa Blanca.

New routes and increased flight frequencies will provide greater connectivity for international travellers while supporting the region’s growing tourism industry.

New routes unveiled at Fitur

At the prestigious Fitur travel fair in Madrid, the Alicante Provincial Council and major airlines operating at Alicante-Elche Airport announced exciting new developments. These include several direct routes designed to attract more visitors from Northern and Eastern Europe.

Ryanair, a key operator at the airport, revealed three new summer routes—one to Poland and two to Austria. These routes address the increasing demand from Northern European travellers, many of whom regard the Costa Blanca as a top holiday destination.

Additionally, Sky Up, the Ukrainian airline, will introduce two weekly flights to Moldova starting this summer. This new connection highlights the airport’s growing importance for travellers from Eastern Europe, a market that continues to expand.

Boosting capacity and expanding bases

Ryanair is set to station two additional aircraft at its Alicante base, a move that will boost flight capacity and allow for more frequent departures. Jet2 Holidays is also enhancing its operations with new routes to the UK, including a direct connection to London, where the airline is opening a new base.

Fly Play, an Icelandic airline, plans to increase its flights from Reykjavik to Alicante during the summer, strengthening ties with Iceland and Northern Europe. Meanwhile, EasyJet continues to build on its base at Alicante-Elche, offering popular direct routes to Naples and Athens, among others.

Strategic focus on emerging markets

The Alicante Provincial Council has emphasised the importance of targeting emerging markets such as Poland, Austria, and Moldova. At the same time, established markets like Ukraine, Italy, Germany, and France remain critical for the region’s tourism growth.

These strategic efforts aim to position Alicante-Elche Airport as a hub for international air travel while boosting the region’s appeal as a premier European destination.

Investment in airport infrastructure

To accommodate increasing passenger numbers, Alicante-Elche Airport is investing in the expansion of its facilities. These upgrades will ensure the airport can handle higher volumes of traffic seamlessly, providing a better experience for both business and leisure travellers.

A hub for growth on the Costa Blanca

The new routes and expanded services reflect Alicante-Elche Airport’s ambitions to become a strategic hub for international air travel. The addition of destinations in Poland, Austria, Moldova, and the UK is just the start of broader growth plans.

With its focus on sustainability, infrastructure upgrades, and market diversification, the airport is set to play a vital role in driving tourism and economic development on the Costa Blanca.

Alicante-Elche Airport’s new summer flight schedule for 2025 marks a significant step forward in its evolution as a leading European travel hub. For travellers, the expanded network means more options and improved connections. For the region, it signals increased tourism, economic growth, and enhanced international visibility. As Alicante-Elche continues to innovate and grow, it remains a key gateway to the beauty and culture of the Costa Blanca.
