Renfe has made more than 100,000 tickets available at just €15 each. They are on sale now until Sunday, April 24, and can be used for travel between July 1 and September 30. Furthermore, they are available in all national destinations.
This most recent promotion is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first AVE train that ran between Madrid and Sevilla.
The first AVE
According to Renfe, “since the first AVE came into circulation 30 years ago, Renfe has transported more than 464 million passengers on its high-speed trains. That April 21, 1992, which went down in the history of transport in Spain, the AVE began to circulate with a fleet of 18 trains that travelled at 300 km/h along a line 471 kilometres long, which crossed five cities”.
Thirty years later
Thirty years on, Renfe now has nearly 230 trains that pass through almost 60 cities. This means that over 70% of the Spanish population has access to a train station.
