The National Police arrested two minors for violent assaults on fellow students. The younger children were attacked in two different events during the same week.
The students reported the situation following talks received by the Citizen Participation Unit of Alicante regarding bullying, cyberbullying and sexual grooming.
Assaulted while another held him
The first of the events occurred on November 30 at around two in the afternoon when the 14-year-old victim and their assailant were leaving the institute.
According to the victim’s report, the older and larger aggressorhad been insulting him the day before, ending up threatening to wait for him to leave the institute the next day to hit him. When they left the institute, the alleged aggressor was waiting for him. She approached him and punched him in the face.
When the victim tried to defend himself, another boy whom the victim did not know, grabbed him by the arms to prevent him from defending himself. At that point the alleged aggressor took the opportunity to continue punching him several times in the face.
Several companions of the victim alerted the National Police and a police crew arrived to help the minor after the attack.
A 12-year-old girl with a fractured radius
That same week, a 12-year-old girl was attacked by an older girl. Apparently, the victim had been being bullied for a month and a half by three classmates from the institute. For almost every day they followed her around the playground insulting her.
On the day of the attack, the victim was taken against her will to another of her bullies. There, she was slapped across the face. When she tried to escape, she was grabbed by the hair, thrown to the ground and the beating continued.
Other students intervened and managed to stop the assault. However, during the fall, the victim fractured her right arm.
Aggressors arrested
The 12-year-old girl requested a restraining order against her aggressors, fearing a repeat of the event. After investigating the violent assaults, the aggressors were arrested and charged with the crimes of injury and against moral integrity.
They have been released, awaiting summons from the Prosecutor’s Office.
The two arrested minors, a male and a female, were aged 16 and 15 years respectively.
