MADRID – Amid all kinds of price increases, the price for butane gas in Spain is also rising again. As of this week, the price of the butane cylinder or the ‘bombona de butano‘ will reach an all-time high.
The price of the butane cylinder will go up again from Tuesday. It will set another record price, after an upward revision of 4.94%, to a maximum of €19.55 for sale to the public. The resolution was published this Monday in the Government Gazette BOE.
It’s the tenth consecutive increase for the standard 12.5-pound size. The cost is reviewed every two months. In this case, it is due to the sharp rise in prices (+6.13%) for raw materials, propane and butane, and the freight rates (+9.83%) to which the depreciation of the euro against the dollar ( -3.61%) is added.
By law, the price without taxes may not rise more than 5%. Without this restriction, it would have increased by 8.2%. The deductible is accumulated for its application in future revisions.

The new maximum price for liquefied petroleum gas
Also, from Tuesday, May 17, a new price cap for liquefied petroleum gas through pipelines will come into effect. That equates to a 7.9% decrease in the bill for an average customer compared to current prices. This decline is due to the monthly decline in the international prices of propane (-15.39%) and butane (-9.44%), despite the depreciation of the euro against the dollar (-1.82% ) and the increase in freight rates (+15.91%).
