Luis Rubiales could face prison for Hermoso kiss

MOTRIL – In protest against the “inhumane and bloody hunt” on her son, Ángeles Béjar, the mother of the temporarily suspended president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, has gone on a hunger strike.

This morning, Béjar locked herself inside the Church of Divina Pastora in Motril (Granada) and has stated she will remain on hunger strike until a solution is found for the “inhumane and bloody hunt being carried out against my son, which he does not deserve.”

Béjar told the EFE news agency that she will stay in the church in the Capuchinos neighbourhood of Motril “day and night” until justice is served for her son.

Suspended over controversial kiss

Luis Rubiales was suspended on Saturday by FIFA due to the controversy surrounding a kiss on the mouth he gave to Jenni Hermoso, a member of the national women’s football team.

The mother of Luis Rubiales is staying in the church in Motril along with her sister, even after the parish priest has left. Ángeles Béjar has called on Jenni Hermoso to “tell the truth” and “stick to the original version of events.”

No sexual abuse

She believes that “there is no sexual abuse as there was consent from both parties, as is evident from the footage.” She questions “why they are being so harsh on him” and “what lies behind this whole story,” given that her son “would be incapable of harming anyone.” As a mother, she is asking for understanding from everyone because “this could happen to anyone.”
