MARBELLA — At around 2:05pm today, a loud explosion-like sound startled residents and shoppers near La Cañada shopping centre.
Within minutes, emergency services — including police, ambulance, and fire crews — arrived at the scene as traffic quickly came to a standstill.
According to initial eyewitness accounts, a lorry overturned while crossing the bridge over the A-7 motorway. The vehicle came to rest across the carriageway, completely blocking the road and causing immediate congestion throughout the area. Nearby streets are also congested as drivers attempt to avoid the situation.
Emergency services remain on site as the situation develops. At this stage, there are no confirmed reports regarding injuries or the cause of the incident. Authorities are expected to release further details as investigations continue.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and expect significant delays.
