Food safety alert: Listeria and salmonella detected in products sold in Spain

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an urgent warning concerning the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in smoked salmon products originating from Spain. Salmonella has also been detected in carpaccio.

Listeria Found in Smoked Salmon

This alert, was initiated by the health authorities in the Comunidad Valenciana through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI).

These products were initially distributed in Andalucía, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Region of Murcia, but further redistribution to other regions cannot be ruled out.

Recommendations

Consumers are advised not to consume the affected products. Those who have the items at home should dispose of them immediately. If any symptoms of listeriosis, such as vomiting, diarrhea, or fever, occur after consumption, it is crucial to seek medical attention promptly. Pregnant women, who are at higher risk, should follow specific dietary recommendations from AESAN to avoid such risks.

Additionally, it is vital to maintain stringent hygiene practices to prevent cross-contamination with other food products.

Salmonella Detected in Carpaccio

In another alert, AESAN has reported the presence of Salmonella in carpaccio sold under the brand Roler. This notification came from the health authorities in Cataluña through the SCIRI system.
