MADRID – Weather change coming to Spain! The remains of Cyclone Danielle bring rain to southern Galicia, Extremadura, western Andalusia and the Ebro area. The Atlantic storm also puts 12 autonomous communities on edge.

Rubén del Campo, the spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), emphasizes that this rainfall is the first since April: “The weakened Danielle storm will be located for a few days west of the peninsula and from its position send fronts over Spain that will irrigate a large part of our territory, especially the western half of the peninsula and the surroundings of the Pyrenees. Temperatures will drop significantly in most of Spain between Monday and Tuesday, leaving the atmosphere in the western half of the peninsula cool for the first half of the week. According to Aemet, thermometers from Tuesday to Thursday will only show more than 28 degrees in areas of the Mediterranean provinces, part of the Bay of Biscay, the Ebro Valley and the Balearic Islands.
Where will it rain?
In the second half of Monday, the rain will spread to the middle of the Spanish plateau. According to Aemet, the most intense rains are expected on the Galician Atlantic coast and in the north of Cáceres.
Heat and risk of storms, hail and strong winds
The drop in temperatures will not affect Aragon this Monday. This community sees a yellow warnng due to heat up to 36 degrees around Zaragoza and also in Teruel. The heat will be accompanied by rainfall of up to 15 litres in an hour in various points of the region at risk of storm, hail and strong wind.
The heat also triggers the yellow alarm in the Balearic Islands this day. Especially in the islands of Mallorca and Menorca. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 36 degrees during the central hours of the day here. In the afternoon there will be showers with thunderstorms, possibly with hail, in the northern interior of the provinces of Valencia and Castellón.
Strong winds will prevail in Cantabria and the Community of Madrid with gusts of up to 80 km/h. The same is expected in Castilla y León, where the rain of 40 litres per square meter in 12 hours is also forecast in the provinces of Ávila and Salamanca and wind gusts of 80 kilometres per hour in those of Palencia and Zamora.
Castilla-La Mancha has activated the yellow warning for accumulated precipitation of up to 15 litres in one hour in the mountains of Cuenca and Guadalajara, in both cases with a chance of storms and maximum wind gusts of 80 kilometres per hour in the Sierra de Toledo.
Navarra, the Basque Country and the Valencian Community have a yellow warning. This is for accumulated precipitation of 15 litres per square meter in one hour and 20 litres in the interior of the province of Valencia. This rain is accompanied in all cases by the risk of a storm. In pints of the east of the peninsula we can even see hail.
