Spain’s state of alarm finishes on 9th of May. Until then autonomous communities can adopt their own measures, such as curfews or closure of restaurants and non-essential trade. Three regions change their corona measures.
The state of alarm began on 25th October and ends on 9th May. The Spanish Government has no intention of extending it beyond that date.
Valencia region
For a long time, the measures in the Valencia region were strict in relation to the number of infections. Now the regional government of the Valencian Community is extending the opening hours of the catering industry and shops. From Monday, 26th April, they can open until 10 pm, when the curfew begins.
The region is unique in Spain, and even in Europe, with an estimated incidence of 40 per 100,000 inhabitants, the lowest of all. The number of in-patients has dropped 50% in one month, the number of patients in ICU also fell. In addition, one in five Valencians has been vaccinated.
The occupancy rate for cultural activities has been raised to 75%; for ceremonies and celebrations to 50%. There will also be more room for sports: outdoor events will be limited to 1,000 people, indoor events to 300.
Andalucia
The current corona measures continue until midnight Friday 29th April. The decision affects both border closures throughout the autonomous community of each of its eight provinces, as well as the curfew between 11pm and 6am.
In Almeria, Cordoba and Seville, shops and restaurants even close at 8pm. The decree also mentions an entry and exit restriction for municipalities with more than 500 or 1,000 cumulative infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days.
The eight provincial commissions agreed on Thursday the restrictions on the opening hours of hotels and shops in 99 Andalusian municipalities will apply for another week. That is one municipality more than seven days ago. The extension also applies to the cities of Almeria, Cordoba and Seville, where shops, bars and restaurant have to close as early as 8pm.
Extreme risk
The Public Health Emergency Committees ordered 61 municipalities to go into lockdown and 38 to close all non-essential activities once there are more than a thousand cases of infection. The cumulative incidence in Andalucia on Thursday was 251 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, one higher than the limit of 250. Almeria (259), Granada (449), Huelva (264), Jaen (352) and Seville (273) are affected.
Madrid
The Autonomous Community of Madrid announced it will maintain the restrictions until 9th May. The curfew will remain in place from 11pm to 6am.
The Directorate-General of Health changed the standards for the lockdown: the cumulative incidence must exceed 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants instead of the 400 set so far.
Meetings of non-residents in homes and enclosed spaces will continue to be prohibited, except for the care of minors or vulnerable persons.
Ventilation of catering establishments remains compulsory, as does separation of groups of tables. The number of diners on terraces is limited to six people per table and four inside; consumption at the bar is prohibited.
