VALENCIA – Valencia continues to have one of the lowest incidence rates in Spain. It also happens to be lower than most European countries. Yet it remains to have one of the toughest set of restrictions in Spain. Valencian President, Ximo Puig announced the update, but there appears to be little change in restrictions.
The new restrictions will commence today (April 12) and will remain until April 25. They will be reviewed on April 22 following the meeting of the interdepartmental Covid-19 Prevention and Action group.
If you do not travel with a valid reason, you are not welcome in Valencia
According to Globexs, as the Generalitat has extended, at least until April 25, the perimeter confinement of the Valencian Community. For this reason, it will only be possible to enter or leave the autonomous region for justified reasons, such as returning to your habitual residence.
However, thanks to 100% of care home residents having received their vaccine in the region, restrictions here have been relaxed somewhat.
Little change in restrictions for Valencia
The updated restrictions within the Valencian region with effect from April 12 as reported by ABC are as follows;
- The Generalitat has extended, at least until April 25, the perimeter confinement of the Valencian Community. Therefore, it will only be possible to enter or leave the autonomous region for justified reasons.
- The curfew remains from 10pm until 6am in the morning. Therefore, night-time mobility is restricted.
- In public spaces, outdoors, social gatherings are limited to a maximum of 6 people. Whereas indoor gatherings are now permitted to people from 2 households.
- The hotel and catering industry can open and welcome people on their terrace at a 100% capacity. However, inside the capacity is limited to 30%. Furthermore, they still have to close at 6pm. There is also a limitation of 6 people per table.
- Commercial shops may close at 8pm with a capacity of 50%.
- The use of face masks is compulsory for walks on urban beaches, natural spaces in cities and swimming pools. In addition, facial protection is compulsory from the age of six when doing physical activity or any other activity in urban areas.
- Ceremonies such as weddings and funerals etc can be attended up to 20 people outside or up to 15 people inside (as long as this is no more than 30% capacity).
- In places of worship, the capacity is 50% maximum.
- All sports institutions, gyms etc may re-open but with a capacity of 50%.
- Outdoors 4 people can play sport together without the requirement of a mask.
- For museums, libraries, theatres, and other similar cultural centres, 50% capacity is permitted. No drinks are allowed.
In summary, there has been very little change in restrictions throughout the Valencian region. Moreover, could this be the reason for the low rate of incidence?
