Car crashed through Honey's restaurant into building

Two people died and two others were injured when a car crashed onto the terrace of a bar in the centre of the Murcian population of Roldán.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the Honey’s bar in Roldan; an Indian restaurant, Britons are the primary customers. It is next to Murcia avenue, the main road, where the car was speeding and lost control.

Fortunately, not more people hurt

“Luckily there were not many customers,” explained the mayor. He confirmed that one of the deceased was the driver and the other a client. The car took tables and chairs from one end of the terrace to the other until it collided with an adjoining building.

Witnesses say that there were four customers sitting at two tables on the terrace, including the wife of the deceased client, who was sitting next to him, but who was miraculously unharmed.

The two other clients were both injured, one of them with a head injury and the other with a leg injury. Both were rushed to the Los Arcos Hospital in San Javier, although their injuries were not thought to be serious, according to police sources.

Driver was already injured

The circumstances, however, are far from clear. Witnesses report the driver, a young man between 25 and 30 years of age, had stab wounds to the chest and blood on his face.

It is understood that, as a result of his injuries, the driver was unable to control his car and so crashed into the terrace on the Avenida de Murcia at more than 120 kilometres per hour.
