TUI resumes flights from Germany to Balearic Islands

MALLORCA – TUI starts their flight schedule on March 21 from Germany to Mallorca. TUI Fly operates flights to and from Spain’s main tourist markets such as Germany, United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Travellers from Germany can book flights to Spain for a week earlier than previously planned (March 27). TUI brought forward the date as the Balearic Islands as the German health authorities consider it a safe destination. This makes it considerably easier for German tourists to travel. They do not have to provide a negative Covid test before boarding the plane from the Balearic Islands, nor quarantine on return.

Infection numbers continue to fall on Balearic Islands

The improvement in health indicators in recent weeks, makes the Balearic Islands one of the safest destinations in Europe. Germany could have allowed travel a week earlier but erred on the side of caution. With the infection numbers continuing to drop, Germany made the decision to allow travel to the islands.

According to Diario de Mallorca, the airline will initially offer flights from Hanover, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. Hotels on the island are preparing to open earlier. “Nothing stands in the way of the Easter holidays in Mallorca, our teams have prepared accordingly,” said Marek Andryszak, general manager of TUI Germany. Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera will soon follow, he said.

Future Plans for TUI

As for the Canary Islands, which are still considered a risky destination, Andryszak explains that trips to those islands are offered as before. In fact, he believes it will be a sought-after destination despite quarantine requirements and those of a negative test upon return.

In April, TUI Fly hopes to open flights to Lisbon and Madeira in Portugal. They are scheduling flights to Greece for May.
