MADRID – Shortly, the highly efficient Embraer will be used for flights to Alicante, the Balearic Islands, Malaga and Murcia. “The new aircraft, operating on short and medium distances, is the most efficient on the market”. So says Marco Ciomperlik, Head of Airlines at TUI Group.
TUI fly Belgium, the airline belonging to the giant TUI Group, is increasing its commitment to the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer. The company continues to renew the fleet it currently uses to connect Belgium with the aforementioned Spanish destinations.
World´s largest commercial aircraft owner
The airline will incorporate the Embraer E195-E2 for the first time in partnership with the world’s largest commercial aircraft owner, Ireland’s AerCap Holding. A long-term lease agreement has been signed with this company for three of these aircraft with a single aisle configuration and 136 seats. Delivery is scheduled for the period between March and May 2023.
Everything indicates that these integrations could replace the 4 Embraer E-Jet E190. The airline currently also uses these under a lease contract. The appliances are on average 7 to 10 years old. They currently cover routes from Antwerp, Ostend and Brussels to continental Spanish destinations such as Alicante, Malaga and Murcia, as well as other destinations such as Tangier and Nador (Morocco). In addition, these aircraft are also used during the summer season to take travellers to Mallorca and Ibiza.
Most efficient on the market
Marco Ciomperlik, Head of Airlines at TUI Group, has emphasised the importance of the addition of the E195-E2 to TUI fly Belgium, Belgium’s second-largest airline. “The new aircraft is the most efficient on the market at short and medium distances. It consumes less fuel, has a longer range, is 50% quieter and emits a third less carbon dioxide,” he stated.
He also revealed that the aircraft will mainly operate from Antwerp, where it will “fly to airports further afield” to expand to new holiday destinations.
