TUI cancels flights except to Canary Islands

TUI cancels flights to countries on the UK’s amber and red travel lists June 28th, except the Canary Islands. Some Greek islands also retain flights. However, this is despite these destinations currently showing on the amber list.

According to news site Canarian Weekly, UK flight and package holiday operator TUI cancels flights to destinations on the UK amber and red lists in Europe until June 28th, except for the Canary Islands and some of the Greek Islands.

TUI are offering trips from the UK to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife from tomorrow, May 27th. From June 7th, they will start operating to La Palma.

Canary Islands – amber but ‘safe’

Despite being on the UK’s amber travel list, the FCO still considers the Canary Islands a safe destination. This is due to its low incidence rate. As with all Spain, there is no need to provide a negative covid test on arrival at the Canary Islands. However, if staying in tourist accommodation, travellers must present the accommodation with a negative covid test certificate.

President of the Canary Islands government, Angel Victor Torres, said yesterday he is expecting the UK to announce the Canary Islands as on the green list of travel from June 7th.
