The trail will also be open on some special dates this summer, including June 26, July 3, 24, and 31, September 4, and 11, and October 9 and 30. Then visitors get the chance to enjoy the magic of this ‘path of the king’ on a Monday as well.

New visitor reception centre

Since October last year, El Caminito del Rey has put into use a modern reception centre. Located in the municipality of Ardales, the centre occupies an area of 25,000 square metres on road MA-5403 (Ardales-El Chorro). It offers visitors an extensive exhibition space where they can learn more about the history of El Caminito, the restoration process, and the flora, fauna and geology of the beautiful surroundings of the Gaitanes Gorge. In addition, there is an information desk and customer service at the entrance, where visitors can ask questions and obtain additional information about the area.

Parking, shuttle buses and train service

For those who come by car, there is a car park with 240 spaces available. The cost for parking is €2 per day. It is also possible to reserve a parking space during the ticket purchase process on the website.

Shuttle buses are used for transport from the car park to the path and vice versa. These shuttle buses, which are not operated by El Caminito del Rey itself, provide a comfortable and convenient travel experience.

You can also take the train from Málaga to El Chorro/Caminito del Rey. A Cercanías train runs to El Chorro from María Zambrano and Málaga Centro train stations. These two stations can also be reached by Cercanías train from Fuengirola and all intermediate stations towards Málaga in Benalmádena and Torremolinos. This train service offers a convenient and environmentally friendly way to reach the trail and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Plan your visit to El Caminito del Rey

Even if you have a ticket, you still have to park your car at least one hour before the time you can enter the path. The walk from the car park or where you get off the transfer bus to the entrance takes at least fifteen minutes. Also check the Facebook page of the Caminito on the morning of your visit to see if the path is not closed due to weather conditions (strong wind, for example).
