The Irish opt for Spain as the best summer destination in the world

Spain awarded at the Irish Travel Trade Awards

Spain was the winner of the Irish Travel Trade Awards. These took place on January 26 in Dublin. In 2022, Ireland has been the tourism market that has grown the most of all issuers to Spain, according to data from Turespaña. 

The awards promoted by the Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) recognised Spain as the best summer destination, while the island of Lanzarote rose as the best winter destination. Likewise, the Turespaña office in Dublin was honoured as the best provider of services to the tourism sector in Ireland. 

Spain has won three of the five awards 

Thus, Spain has won three of the five awards for which it was eligible. The other two nominations, were those of Barcelona as the best global city and PortAventura (Salou, Tarragona) as the best global theme park.

Irish tourism to Spain is experiencing a real boom 

Turespaña emphasises that these prizes, which are awarded based on the evaluation of the clients of tour operators and agents, come at a time when Irish tourism to Spain is experiencing a real boom. They highlight Ireland has been the market that has grown the most (November data) within all issuers. 

Holiday World Show in Dublin 

The gala, which brought together almost 500 guests, is one of the most important events on the calendar of the Irish professional tourism sector. It is held to coincide with the start of its most important fair, the Holiday World Show in Dublin. On this occasion, it was also attended by Spanish professionals such as the director of the Catalan Tourism Agency, Narcís Ferrer; the Lanzarote Tourism Manager, Héctor Fernández Manchado; the Andalucian Tourism Manager for Ireland and English-speaking markets, Antonio Martín Machuca; as well as managers and technicians from different destinations in Gran Canaria, Costa del Sol and Costa Dorada, among others
