MADRID – As usual, the Policia Nacional alerts us via Twitter to the latest scams that are going around. Today we give information on a communication pretending to be from UNICEF.
Scams typically take advantage of those most vulnerable or in need. However, if an offer or information seems too good to be true, it often is.
Free grants scam
You may receive an email that looks like it is from UNICEF offering a free grant of up to €25,000 to help with financial problems. It will then ask you to leave a message for more information.
Furthermore, it leaves a contact email address with UNICEF in the title. And goes on to explain, UNICEF is a large group with various projects to help the poor around the world. And in terms of grants the United States government carries out this campaign annually in all countries awarding grants of €25,000 to 220 applicants.
