MALAGA – The Guardia Civil arrested almost 50 people during operation “Tolick” in the Malaga area.

As part of operation “Tolick”, the Guardia Civil dismantled 3 criminal organisations dedicated to drug trafficking. This was in the Axarqiua region of Malaga. A total of 47 people has been arrested including several minors. Furthermore, another 3 people have been investigated for the alleged crimes of drug trafficking, belonging to a criminal organisation, illegal detention, injuries, threats, sexual abuse, money laundering, smuggling, and electricity fraud.

Sex club

Operation “Tolick” began in September 2020 when police discovered a house in Torrox was a point of sale for cocaine and other drugs. The people renting the house bought the drugs from the manager of a sex club in Velez-Malaga.

A member of the criminal organisation worked for a parcel delivery company and used this for the delivery of drugs. This went undetected for a while as it was part of the normal delivery day and therefore did not raise suspicions. Due to the official nature of the business, he even managed to continue deliveries during Covid perimeter lockdowns.

Hashish and marijuana

As the investigation continued, another criminal organisation selling hashish and marijuana was identified. Members of this gang have been charged with crimes of illegal detention, injuries, and threats for various “account adjustments” directed against members of other criminal organisations.

Cogesa Expats

Furthermore, the third organisation dismantled, bought, and sold large quantities of hashish from Morocco. To do this, they ground the hashish and mixed it with tobacco cuttings which formed a compact tablet. These were then sent to Portugal, France, and Italy.

Seized

In total 25 homes were searched. Police discovered and seized 2 indoor marijuana plantations with 188 kg of hashish, 131 kg of marijuana, 5,846 gr of hashish pollen, 600 gr of hashish oil, 726 marijuana plants, 108 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of MDMA, 1,400 grams of cutting substance, 91 kg of chopped tobacco, 6 shotguns, various simulated firearms and prohibited knives, 37,000 euros in cash and various vehicles. In addition, 5 farms with an area of 10.5 hectares and 6 financial products have been blocked by a court order.

As part of operation “Tolick”, arrests were made in Velez-Malaga, El Morche, Algarrobo, Torrox, Nerja, Archez and Competa.
