UK most wanted 2023

At the beginning of 2022, the UK´s National Crime Agency (NCA) in conjunction with British charity Crimestoppers, launched a campaign to capture the UK´s most wanted criminals thought to be living in Spain. We are now in 2023, and the campaign to arrest the UK most wanted continues.

Thanks to citizen cooperation and an on-going social media presence by the Spanish police, there have been several arrests so far. However, there are still criminals out there. Some of which have been on the run for a number of years.

The Policia Nacional regularly post on social media the faces of these most wanted criminals in the hope that someone recognises them. These people are in our everyday lives, somewhere! Let´s help get them off the streets.

One of the recent arrests was Nana Oppong

Oppong was wanted for a drive-by murder in Essex. Allegedly, Oppong murdered Robert Powell by shooting him with a 9mm pistol. Oppong was on the run for over 2 years before being arrested in Morocco after leaving Spain.

According to the National Crime Agency in the UK, although Oppong was arrested in September, due to operational reasons, his arrest has only recently been made public.

As well as featuring on the Most Wanted campaign, an Interpol red notice – a worldwide alert – was issued for Oppong. Furthermore, he was arrested using false identity documents as he tried to enter Morocco from Spain. He was stopped by officers from the DGSN – Morocco’s General Directorate for National Security.

Oppong currently remains in custody awaiting extradition before a trial in the UK.

The 42-year-old, is the seventh fugitive to be arrested from the Most Wanted campaign.
