Mercadona open on Sundays

MADRID – Mercadona has announced that the branches of this largest Spanish supermarket will also open on Sundays in the summer. This concerns branches along the Spanish coasts with many tourists.

In a press release, the company said the stores will be open on Sundays during the summer months. This will be from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. Moreover, it is the first time that the stores of this Spanish chain will also open on Sundays.

During the summer, other fortresses on Spanish territory will be open from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm. That is half an hour longer than in the other months, when the shops close at 9.30 pm.

On the Mercadona website you can find more information about the opening times per location by entering your post code, city, and location.

There is also news about the opening times of the supermarket during the holidays. The Mercadona branches will be closed on July 25 (festivities of Santiago Apóstol) in regions such as Navarra, the Basque Country, Galicia, and the Community of Madrid. On August 15, the feast of the Assumption of Mary, they also remain closed.

The brick and mortar supermarket and online sales company have updated its toll-free customer service phone number which is now 800 500 220 (only from Spain). Furthermore, customers can call this number from 7.00 am to 10.30 pm.

Working at Mercadona

In Spain, the supermarket is known as a good employer with more than reasonable working conditions. Mercadona took the opportunity to announce, in addition to the summer opening hours, that it has vacancies all over Spain for almost all functions: butchers, fishmongers and bakers, cashiers, cleaners, stock fillers and also for a warehouse waiter in the logistics centre.
