ONDA – A 55-year-old man died on Saturday as a result of serious injuries caused by being gored by a bull. He was participating in the ‘bous al carrer’ in the town of Onda in the province of Castellón.
The man, a resident of Vall d’Uixó, suffered a laceration in his left thigh from the bull’s horn and lost a large amount of blood. He also received a severe blow to the head resulting in a serious injury. He died at La Plana Hospital after going into cardiac arrest there as well.
The ‘bous al carrer’, involves a crowd running in front of bulls. The victim went by ambulance to La Plana Hospital after two cardiac arrests. Surgeon Gustavo Traver, the doctor hired by the organisation of the celebration, immediately treated the man on the spot. Initially, he managed to restore his vital functions. Despite this, the man eventually died in hospital after failing to respond to the latest CPR attempts.

Two wounded
In La Pobla de Farnals, a 25-year-old man from Ecuador was injured and lost consciousness after he was hit by a bull. This victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he underwent mutliple examinations to rule out a head injury.
Another ‘aficionado’, a 36-year-old man, suffered a four-centimetre tear in his leg frombeing gored by a bull during the same festivities. He was also taken to the Clinical Hospital, where he was subsequently admitted.
Both in Onda and Pobla de Farnals the bull runs were stopped after the accidents.
