MÁLAGA – With a new drone show, the municipality of Malaga hopes to attract even more people to the city this holiday season. For several years now, the spectacular Christmas lights in combination with a music show have attracted daily tens of thousands of interested people to the city.

A drone show will be added this weekend. This light show can be seen from Saturday around the port of Malaga in the following areas;

  • Palmeral de las Sorpresas
  • Plaza de la Marina
  • Muelle Uno
  • from the mountain where the Gibralfaro castle is located.

The city has already completed the inauguration of the illuminations of Calle Larios and surrounding streets. This year was with huge celestial angels as the guiding theme. The premiere of the ‘video mapping’ on the south facade of the cathedral can also be seen and the botanical garden Finca La Concepción is lit up like a fairytale.

When are the drone shows?

This weekend it’s the turn of the drones. The first show will take place on Saturday 3 December at 8.00 pm. It should be one of the many highlights of the Christmas period in the southern Spanish city. With a simultaneous performance, 120 drones show different Christmas images. The show will be repeated on December 4, 5, 6, 7 and 23 at 8.00 pm. There will also be a special show at 8.30 pm on Friday, December 9.

It is not the first time that drones have graced the night sky in Malaga. During the opening night of the Malaga Feria and in the run-up to the fireworks show that opened the week of celebration, 240 drones already provided the ‘Umiles – Drone light show’. A light show in which drones led by specialists drew light figures in the sky of Malaga. At the controls were two pilots, a technical manager, three observers, an operations coordinator and the creator of the choreography. The success was so great that this Christmas for a repeat.
