MADRID – President Isabel Ayuso of the Madrid region announced on Monday that she will stop all restrictive measures that apply to the catering industry and nightlife as of September 20. The capacity restrictions for theatres and cinemas will also be removed.

Bars and restaurants can open until 2 am and night bars, clubs, and discos can open until 5.30 am. The catering industry and nightlife scene can feel almost back to normal. As this is just like before the corona pandemic. In addition, 10 people can sit together on terraces of restaurants instead of 8. Ayuso bases these changes on the low virus incidence in the region.

She also sneered at the policy devised by others: ‘So many absurd rules and  free damage have caused the decisions that are based on the fear of some politicians and entrepreneurs!’ Ayuso said this in Milan, where she received the prize ‘La Llama de la Libertad’ (the call for freedom) from the Bruno Leoni Institute.

‘What fear of losing power… And how easy it is to decide on the work of a self-employed person with a government salary’.
