Guardia Civil appointment

MADRID – After a successful pilot scheme, the Guardia Civil have now extended the appointment service for non-urgent matters.

The service has been in operation since last October, but only in a limited number of offices. But now, the service has been implemented in 261 Guardia Civil posts in 3 provinces throughout the country.

Therefore, it is now possible for citizens who wish to file a complaint or carry out any procedure that is not considered urgent to make a prior appointment.

Guardia Civil previous appointment service

The pilot experience of the “Prior Appointment” service was implemented to file a criminal or administrative complaint or carry out any non-urgent procedure at six posts in the Madrid, Alicante and Almería headquarters.

Given the complexity involved in the general extension of this service to the entire Guardia Civil, the pilot experience was extended in March this year to the main posts of these commands and some ordinary posts. At that point, the previous appointment service was available at a total of 54 Guardia Civil posts.

The prior appointment service at the citizen attention offices allows you to reserve a personal time at the Guardia Civil offices. This is either to file complaints or to carry out of any other non-urgent procedure.

Among the benefits of this initiative is to avoid delays in waiting to be attended to, and to offer better customer care, by placing at their disposal an agent specialised in their specific need for the necessary time.

However, this service is NOT recommended in urgent cases where it is not convenient to postpone a complaint. This would include such crimes;

  • in which violence or intimidation has been used
  • when there is a perpetrator who can be recognised by the victim or witnesses
  • in the disappearance of people
  • when the victim of the crime is an unemancipated minor or a person with a disability
  • if the crime is being committed or has just been committed
  • if it has occurred in buildings with escalation, fracture of windows, doors, walls, etc
  • when dealing with events that require the prompt presence of agents at the scene of the events.

Complemented by the electronic complaint system through the official website, the prior appointment service will help speed up the procedures. And, therefore, the time spent in ratifying them at the police offices.

This project joins two systems launched by the Civil Guard to facilitate citizen attention: the aforementioned electronic complaint, and the “prior appointment” of the Weapons and Explosives Interventions
