FOOTBALL – A weekend of fantastic football with some amazing goals tally from La Liga matches and the English Premiership.

In the Premiership, Fulham v Newcastle produced 5 goals with Newcastle winning 1-4. Six goals (3-a-piece) were scored at the Liverpool v Brighton game. In La Liga, 8 goals were scored with Real Sociedad claiming 5 for the away win against Girona.

Hat-tricks

But the most spectacular goal scoring game of the weekend, had to have been the Manchester derby. City´s Etihad Stadium saw a total of 9 goals yesterday when the home side won 6-3. Not only that, but both Phil Foden and Earling Haaland scored hat-tricks

Athletic Club v Almería

On Friday, Athletic Club had an easy 4-0 victory over newcomers Almeria. The home team scored 2 goals in each half. The first coming after just 10 minutes with a header for Iñaki Williams, followed 7 minutes later by Sancet who put the ball in the centre of the net.

In the second half, Nico Williams scored in the 62nd minute of the match by neatly slipping the ball between Fernando Pacheco´s legs. Then Vesga was brought down inside the box and was awarded a penalty. He stepped up, sent Pacheco the wrong way, and scored.

Into stoppage time, and Dyego Sousa put the ball in the net for Almeria. But it didn´t count as he was well offside. #AthleticAlmería finished 4-0.

Cogesa Expats

Cadiz v Villarreal

Both sides had many chances at goal, but the keepers made some superb saves. The match ended goalless with both teams taking a point. Isaac Carcelen of Cadiz received a red card 3 minutes into stoppage time.

Mallorca v Barcelona

Lewandowski scored his 12th goal of the season in 9 appearances for Barcelona keeping them at the top of the table. However, if it wasn´t for Ter Stegen, the result could have been completely different. The home side had many good chances at goal, but the Barça keeper kept them out. Lewandowski scored the only goal of the match.

Real Madrid v Osasuna

Despite playing in front of a home crowd, Real Madrid could only take a point from the game. Vini jnr scored with a fantastic long ball from outside the box after 42 minutes. Then Kike levelled the score with an equally impressive goal 50 minutes in.  He sent the ball high in the air out of reach, and over up-stretched hands of the keeper into the net.

Benzema had a few chances, one of which saw him brought down inside the box. This resulted in a red card for David Garcia, and a penalty was awarded for Benzema. However, the chance to take the lead failed when the ball hit the crossbar. Just before full time, Benzema was again denied a chance. He put the ball in the net, but the goal was disallowed after Vini jnr was caught offside.

Goal difference

This puts Barcelona at the top of the table on goal difference. Real Madrid are in 2nd place having conceded 7 goals against Barcelona´s one so far. Athletic Club, in third position, are sitting on 16 points, just 3 behind the leaders. Atletico Madrid trail 6 points behind Barcelona and Real Madrid. Even with a loss against Celta Vigo, Real Betis are in a good position in the 4th spot on the table.
