MALLORCA – Americans see the island of Mallorca as an attractive area to buy a home. This has been stated by Hans Lenz, president of the Balearic National and International Real Estate Association (ABINI).

Lenz links this phenomenon to the improvement of connections between the US and the Balearic island. And especially thanks to the direct flight New York-Palma recently established by United Airlines.

Authentic Mallorcan lifestyle

The president of ABINI affirms that North Americans “are very much in love with the authentic lifestyle of Mallorca”. Moreover, they are especially interested in inland areas such as, the Serra de Tramuntana or Son Vida (Palma).

This scenario may offer new opportunities for the Mallorcan real estate and tourism market, due to the high purchasing power of North American visitors. In this sense, the Government of the Balearic Islands has spent several years trying to dissociate itself from the so-called ‘drunken tourism’, with the aim of attracting travellers with the capacity to invest.

The newspaper Última Hora reports that the sale of luxury homes in Mallorca has increased greatly in just a few years, approaching the figures for 2021, the year in which sales doubled compared to 2019.
