ANDALUCIA – Juanma Moreno, head of The Junta de Andalucía met with the regional government’s Committee of Covid experts in Malaga this afternoon (Monday August 2).
The meeting was to assess the pandemic levels throughout Andalucia. And, furthermore to decide if any new measures were required to stop the spread of Covid throughout the region.
Digital Certificate required
However, despite Minster of Health Darias rejecting requests for the Digital Certificate to be used other than for travel purposes, Juanma Moreno issued the following tweet.
He announced “As of Thursday, August 5, to gain access inside nightlife venues in Andalucia, it will be necessary to show the COVID Digital Certificate, a negative PCR or antigen test. But all other existing measures will remain in place.”

Incidence rate increasing
According to the Instituto de Estadistica y Cartografia de Andalucia (IECA) the 14-day incidence rate for the region is 584.3 per 100,000 inhabitants. Furthermore, the rate has increased each day for over 30 days. Also, Andalucia has not reached a similar level since February when it was 583.7.
Per province, the 14-day incidence rates are as follows
- Malaga – 823.5
- Huelva – 617.1
- Cadiz – 612.6
- Cordoba – 575.5
- Almeria – 534.1
- Jaen – 503.8
- Sevilla – 461.9
- Granada – 452.4

To date, there have been 707,000 positive cases in Andalucia, and 10,201 deaths have been recorded.
