Cocaine seized at Algeciras port

CADIZ – Earlier this week, in a joint operation of the National Police and the Tax Agency, cocaine was stopped at the point of entry into Spain.

Operation Meridional Plan successfully ended in the arrest of seven people as well as the dismantling of a business network in Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz.

Lorry intercepted

A lorry was intercepted coming into the port of Algeciras. The legal cargo was bananas. However, on searching inside the boxes of merchandise, police found there was a lot more.

Moreover, hidden within were more than 600 kilos of cocaine. You can see from the official Policia Nacional video how the criminals thought they could evade detection by surrounding the cocaine with the bananas.

This is just one of many successful arrests the police make on a regular basis here in Spain.
