Champions League and La Liga matches round up

FOOTBALL – Four matches into La Liga season, and it is tight at the top.

Three teams sit on 10 points, but with Real Madrid leading the way on goal difference. They are followed by Valencia and last season´s La Liga winners, Atletico Madrid.

Atletico is at home against Athletic Club tomorrow. And Valencia is at home on Sunday to Real Madrid. 33-year-old French striker, Karim Benzema has scored and assisted in no less than 9 goals for Real Madrid so far in La Liga this season.

Barcelona is at home on Monday evening against Granada who has yet to win a game. Although Barcelona is in 7th place, they are only 3 points behind the leaders at this stage in the competition. Eighteen year old, Ansu Fati wears the number 10 shirt, but it looks likely he will not be fit for the match on Monday.

On Tuesday Sevilla drew 1-1 with Youssef En-Nesyri receiving a red card 50 minutes into the game. Also on Tuesday, Manchester United lost their match 2-1 against the Swiss Young Boys despite an early goal from Ronaldo. They played most of the game a man down after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off in the 35th minute. Another red card when to of Villarreal during their 2-2 draw against Italian side, Atalanta. Chelsea won their match against Zeta with a goal in the last 20 minutes of the game. Despite a good start, Barcelona lost their game against Bayern 0-3 at Camp Nou.

Wednesday saw Real Madrid win 1-0 away against Inter Milan whereas Atletico was held to a 0-0 home draw against Porto.

Also on Wednesday, Liverpool won 3-2 against Milan. And Man City had an amazing 6-3 home win against RB Leipzig. Nkunku scored a hat-trick for Leipzig. But it seemed like almost everyone from Man City scored. Goals came from Nathan Ake, Nordi Mukiele (OG), Riyad Mahrez (P), Jack Grealish, Joao Cancelo, and Gabriel Jesus.

The next round kicks off on September 28 with action from;

  • Milan v Atletico Madrid
  • PSG v Manchester City
  • Porto v Liverpool
