BENIDORM – In Benidorm, mobile vaccination points are being installed. These will be aimed at foreign tourists. Especially visitors who come to the annual festivals that are celebrated between 13 and 17 November.
This has been announced by the regional Ministry of Health. A vaccination point will be set up in the centre of the tourist resort that will be accessible to everyone. And another point specifically aimed at foreign tourists.
Extreme risk
Based on the most recent data released by the Generalitat Valenciana, the municipality of Alicante is still in an ‘extreme risk’ situation, with a 14-day cumulative incidence of 272.53 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. However, the hotel association Hosbec has already questioned these figures because it is said that visitors to the city have not been taken into account. If those are included, the above figures would triple, according to Hosbec.
Mobile vaccination point
The first vaccination point is at the Museu L’Hort de Colón, located on Tomàs Ortuño Street. People can visit here from Tuesday 9 November to Monday 15 November between 11.00 am and 5.00 pm. “This point in the heart of the city. And as such, we want to facilitate the vaccination of those who, for whatever reason, have yet to be vaccinated. We will open a few days before the patrons’ festivities to try to spread the influx of people. And will remain open during the main events,” said Marina Baixa’s health department director Rosa Louis Cereceda.
This service is intended for people who have not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus or who still have a dose due. From Tuesday, November 16, the mobile vaccination team will move to the Benidorm Foreign Tourist Service, in the Rincón de Loix, the largest area of the city, where it is always particularly busy. The opening times are the same as those of the Museu L’Hort de Colón, from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.
This second vaccination point remains dependent on the demand that has been opened. “It is a neighbourhood with a huge influx of people, especially foreigners. And we will keep this location open for as long as it takes. The goal is to further expand vaccination coverage against the coronavirus,” Cereceda said.
Search for unvaccinated
Bringing mobile vaccination teams to busy points in Benidorm is in line with other initiatives launched after the completion of the mass vaccination at the 133 points distributed by the Valencian government at other festivities such as music festivals, sporting events, major shopping centres or university grounds.
In addition to deploying mobile vaccination points on special occasions, primary care health centres continue to be very active in seeking out people who have not yet been vaccinated or who are yet to receive their second vaccination.
