IBIZA – During the pandemic, the trend was already set: stimulated by the possibility of circumventing restrictive travel measures, the arrival of private jets to the Balearic Islands increased sharply. Furthermore, that trend seems to be consolidating now that life has returned to ‘normal’.

According to data from the European Commercial Aviation Association (EBAA), Majorca and Ibiza airports are the two Spanish airports receiving the most jets. Firstly, the airport of Palma de Mallorca registered the arrival of 19,618 private planes. This puts this Spanish destination in the ninth position among the favourite destinations for European luxury tourism. Moreover, it was a 3% increase from 2021. The busiest month was June, when 2,130 private jets landed on the island, compared to 1,835 in the same period of 2021.

Ibiza has been crowned the second Spanish airport (13th in Europe) for private jets. The ‘white island‘ received 16,258 such planes, an 8% growth over the previous year.

The two airports of the Balearic Islands are followed by Madrid, Malaga and Barcelona.
