MADRID – ‘Dream big’ is an expression for a reason. And sometimes dreams do come true! Can you picture yourself working on your future B&B or holiday home in the middle of a beautiful Spanish landscape? If you dream of a life in Spain, read on!

Here we list five examples of farms, cortijos or even entire hamlets that are for sale in Spain on the Aldeasabandonadas website. This collects all national real estate properties for sale and has been enjoying strongly increased visitor numbers since the corona pandemic.

Rural complex in Jaén – €700,000

It’s a lot of money, but you get what you pay for. No less than 12 furnished houses on a finca of 2 hectares in the middle of a rural area in the Andalucian province of Jaén in. It is an old Cortijo of 1,100 square metres, built in a rustic style, located 1 kilometre from the nearest village. The group of houses is surrounded by 200 olive trees, and can sleep 50 people. Hamlet in Huelva – €319,000

Unlike the Cortijo in Jaén, this rural hamlet of 8 properties still needs a lot of work. They are on a finca of 18.5 hectares full of holm oaks and cork oaks. The buildings have stone walls, 60 cm thick. The largest of the houses has been renovated. It has three bedrooms, a kitchen with a fireplace, a bathroom and a lounge. Rural complex in Cáceres – €440,000

This complex on a 3-hectare finca is located just outside a village and even has a valid tourist use permit from the Junta de Extremadura. The beautiful World Heritage town of Trujillo is 70 kilometres away and Guadalupe is 25 kilometres away. The village has a health centre, a school and shops.
