April in Sevilla

SEVILLA – During the month of April, there is so much happening, and so much to see and do in and around Sevilla. It´s the place to be in Spain!

Semana Santa

First of all, one of the most important weeks is Semana Santa. And Spain is the world’s most visited country for this event. Furthermore, the city of Sevilla was full of locals and tourists who came to see the processions this Easter. The atmosphere was amazing, and the (long) week was filled with events and processions. Something not to be missed for next year.

Feria de Abril

Two weeks after Semana Santa, Sevilla comes alive once again with the Feria de Abril. This begins at midnight on April 30 and continues until May 7. Once again, the city is filled with colour and atmosphere as people dress in their flamenco outfits and celebrate. There is something for everyone. The Feria de Abril de Sevilla is one of the most emblematic celebrations in the city.

Copa del Rey

In between these two major events, is the final of the Copa del Rey. This will take place tomorrow (Sunday, April 23) at La Cartuja Stadium where Real Betis take on Valencia. Although the stadium capacity is 60,000, a further 40,000 fans are expected to descend on the city to watch the game on a big screen at Villamarín.

Accommodation

Finding somewhere to sleep while in Sevilla during April could be difficult if you haven´t already booked. It is estimated that 85% of accommodation is already booked out for this period.

Cogesa Expats

Scam

Therefore, as always, the Policia Nacional keeps us up to date with current scams. It may come as no surprise, but there are scammers offering fake accommodation in Sevilla for the Copa del Rey Final. So, be vigilant and double-check before you part with any money.

Economic impact

According to information provided by Sevilla City Council to the EFE news agency, it is expected that this weekend alone, will bring over €45 million to the city.

Security

More than 2,300 police are being deployed in #Sevilla to guarantee the security of the Final. Another 1,500 agents from the Provincial Police Station will also participate, from today until the end of the celebrations.

Other attractions

In addition to the football, if you find you have time to explore this fabulous city, check out the official tourism page of the City Council.
