FOOTBALL – La Liga this weekend saw some surprises, but has there been any change at the top of the table?

Cadiz had a surprise win at home against Atletico Madrid. The home side had goals from one end of the game to the other. The first came in the initial minute of the match.

Less than one minute into the game

Just 27 seconds into the game, and Espino runs to stop the ball going out of play and passes to Bongonda who scores. Then, at the other end of the game, Sobrino scored with 9 minutes of added time after the full 90 minutes.

However, in between all that, Fernandez scored after 81 minutes. A superb goal, just tipped by the Atletico keeper. This put the home side 2-0 up against Atletico.

Atletico´s Felix managed to equalise. He scored a double with goals after 85 and 89 minutes. The first of his goals was an amazing overhead kick into the net. The second was equally spectacular as the sub drives the ball home and into the bottom corner of the goal.

But the decider came with Sobrino who scored the late goal. Cadiz took the well-deserved 3 points.

Temporarily in top position

Valencia were at home against 2nd place Barcelona. The game was all square at the 90-minute mark. But Lewandowski came to the rescue with a late goal, 3 minutes into time added on. Barcelona took all 3 points temporarily putting them in top position ahead of Real Madrid´s game against Valencia.

Both teams shared the points

Leaders, Read Madrid were at home today against near bottom of the table Girona. The first half ended goal-less. The second half looked to be going the same way until Vini Jnr scored after 70 minutes. With only 20 minutes left of normal time, Real Madrid were not out of the woods. Ten minutes later, a penalty was awarded to Girona. Stuani stepped up and scored. All was equal at this point, and that is how the game ended. Both teams shared the points. Kroos was shown the red card 1 minute after the 90 minutes.

Real Madrid remain top of the table, just one point ahead of Barcelona.
