transfers deadline

FOOTBALL – Yesterday was the deadline for transfers. Some moves were expected but many were a surprise. And the rumours have been flying around the football world. The time for speculation is now over!

Over the last few weeks, we have seen Messi leave FC Barcelona due to a lack of funding and La Liga legislation. There were offers on the table and much talk about a Messi-Ronaldo partnership. However, in the end, PSG was the team for Messi. There, he joins Mbappe up front.

PSG transfers

Mbappe is set to stay at Paris Saint-Germain despite Real Madrid being willing to pay £197m. Mbappe´s contract runs out with the French team at the end of the season. As such, Real Madrid is desperate to have a pre-contract agreement signed at the turn of the year. This will then enable the player to join the Spanish side on a free transfer.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Ronaldo announced he was staying at Juventus, and then days later, the news came of his move to Manchester United. The 36-year-old Portuguese forward has signed a 2-year deal with his old club with an option to extend. Ronaldo made a statement once his return to Old Trafford was confirmed, and he ended with the words “PS Sir Alex, this one is for you!”

Griezmann

Cash strapped FC Barcelona have off-loaded, forward Antoine Griezmann to rivals Atletico Madrid. The clubs agreed on an initial loan deal with obligation thereafter for Atletico to pay £34.4m. Meanwhile, Atletico rejected an offer from Man U for 30-year-old right-back, Kieran Trippier.

La Liga newcomers

Newcomers to La Liga’s first division, Rayo Vallecano are to sign former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao, 35, on a two-year contract.  Rayo Vallecano won their last La Liga game 4-0 against Granada and currently sit 10th in the table. Their next game is away to Levante on September 11.

Youth academy

Chelsea reached a €5million loan agreement with Atletico for Saul Niguez. Saul came through Atletico´s youth academy and plays as a central or defensive midfielder.

Real Madrid

There is no La Liga action until September 11. Currently, 6 teams all sit on 7 points after the first 3 games. The top 3 are all equal on goal difference. However, Real Madrid has scored the most goals so far. And therefore, have the advantage.
